The Piranha Fishing Tool is a compact stainless steel fishing multi-tool with a line cutter, hook sharpener, and wrench cutouts for maintaining fishing tackle and making quick gear adjustments on the water.
I was fishing off a rickety dock on the Amazon river when the water below started churning in a way I didn’t like. A whole school of piranhas swept in, snapping at anything that touched the surface. I pulled my feet out of the water fast, and backed away even faster.
Later that night, still grateful for my intact toes, I carved a little fish shape into a scrap of metal as a reminder. That sketch eventually became the Piranha Tool. Now I use it to tighten hooks, cut line, and fix gear whenever the river gets rowdy.
A near miss makes for a good tool. And a better story.
